WESTERN Bulldogs defender Shane Biggs will be one of the least-experienced players to take the field against Adelaide but he'll have no trouble adapting to the increased intensity of the elimination final.
Biggs made his AFL debut for the Sydney Swans in the last round of the 2013 home-and-away season and held his spot until the Swans were beaten by Fremantle in a fiery preliminary final played in front of a hostile Subiaco crowd.
"I'd played three games and two were finals so it sort of felt like that's just what happened back then," Biggs said.
"But after playing a few more games I know they're hard to get into.
"My first game was against Hawthorn so it was a really high-intensity game, which was a bit of a shock to the system.
"Then the final (against Carlton) was up (another level) again and then the one in Perth against Fremantle was a real wake-up call but I got a lot of experience from it."
Biggs played just three games the following season - in the last three rounds of the season - but was dropped before the Swans embarked on a finals run that ended with a Grand Final defeat at the hands of the Hawks.
But the 24-year-old Victorian has enjoyed greater success since being traded to the Bulldogs ahead of this season, largely due to the instant connection he formed with the club.
"When I got here there was a really good feel about the place," he said.
"It was out west, I'd never been out here before, and it was like a local club.
"It felt good then and it's obviously feeling pretty good now.
"Everyone's pumped at the club, we're not hiding it, I think we're pretty excited.
"A lot of the boys haven't played in a final and Bevo is all about keeping the excitement up, really riding the wave and enjoying it."
