Belief will be the biggest learning taken from the Western Bulldogs’ four-point win against Sydney, into their game against St Kilda in round six.

Bulldogs’ senior coach Luke Beveridge says his side have gained some validation after the big win and he hoped his side would carry that through.

“It gives you a little more belief… We believed that we were going to be able to challenge most sides in the competition and last week’s performance validates that a little bit.

“As far as our expectations go, we think week to week we’re a chance to win, so that doesn’t change.”

The Bulldogs will likely head into the game as favourites for the first time this year, but Beveridge said there was no place for complacency.

“We’ve just got to focus on what we can control and if we don’t then we run the risk of being vulnerable.

“We’re internalising a bit and making sure that what happened last week and the previous weeks transfers again on the field.”

Beveridge welcomes Lachie Hunter into the side for his first game of 2015 and said the young Dog is a flexible addition.

“He’ll more than likely play midfield/forward… he’s pretty versatile Lachie.

“We were keen to get him back into the senior team but there’s a lot of competition for spots… It’s been great that he’s forced his way back in.”

Brett Goodes also returns to the side, giving the Bulldogs another option through the midfield.

“Goodesy will have to play a role there and we’ll need to share the load through some of our smaller mids like Nathan Hrovat, Mitch Honeychurch and Luke Dahlhaus.”
