An attacking game plan and a better understanding between the young forwards have contributed to a much more potent forward line in 2015 according to Tory Dickson.
As a result, the Western Bulldogs have found various avenues to score this season — sitting fifth in the competition for goals per game.
Four forwards have kicked ten or more goals this season, with Jake Stringer (25), Tory Dickson (20), Tom Boyd (15) and Stewart Crameri (10) the highest-scoring Dogs to date.
Dickson attributes the Dogs’ new-found chemistry to a ‘sharing the load’ mantra.
“All the boys down there have played the majority of games and I guess the chemistry’s building week by week.
“I sort of base my game around a lot of pressure and someone steps up each week and it’s a contribution from the whole team.
“It’s fantastic from all the midfielders as well getting it down there and the pressure’s been fantastic, everyone’s chiming in and doing their part and we’re working really well.”
Dickson has kicked 20 goals and is averaging 14 touches per game, in his most consistent season in his four-year career.
The 27-year-old said a solid pre-season has contributed to his strong form.
“I guess new coaching staff, I had a really good pre-season, no injuries and got to play all the pre-season games.
“I know that when I do bring the pressure it sort of brings you into the game so that’s a focus for me each week.”
