Although coming away with a 22-point win, the Bulldogs opening NAB Challenge match against Richmond leaves the Club with plenty of room for improvement according to Mitch Wallis.
Albeit a promising start to the Dogs pre-season campaign, Wallis says there are plenty of areas to consolidate ahead of round one.
“We probably didn’t get 100 per cent of the things right (that we have been working on) but it was a great start.
“To have 62 inside 50s, we weren’t as efficient as I would have liked but our ball movement and intensity around the ball was pretty good.”
Wallis finished the match as one of the Dogs’ best, with 21 possessions, 16 of those contested, five tackles and one goal.
The midfielder said whilst it was encouraging to take home the win, his side would look to capitalise more on their opportunities in the remaining NAB Challenge matches against Melbourne and Collingwood.
“At the end of the day we won, we came out here to play but (goal conversion) that’s an area we look to improve.
“All in all we should be happy with our first up run.”
