Warnie from The Traders, AFL.com.au’s NAB AFL Fantasy experts, will be taking a look at the Bulldogs each week exclusive to westernbulldogs.com.au.

LAST WEEK

Unfortunately the Demons were too good for the Dogs on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.

The home team dominated the Fantasy scores with nine players scoring over 90 points compared to the Bulldogs’ four.

Mitch Wallis has played two games since injuring his back in round three and enjoyed his best game in quite some time. He ran with Nathan Jones but was able to collect 23 disposals and lay 12 tackles to top score for the Bulldogs with 121.

Dual position heroes Matthew Boyd (115) and Luke Dahlhaus (113) also battled hard and scored a Fantasy ton.

Marcus Bontempelli was tagged by Bernie Vince and held to just 45 points; his lowest score of the season. Brett Goodes broke his arm in the last quarter.

TOP 5 SCORERS V MELBOURNE

  • 121 – Mitch Wallis (MID, $355,000)
  • 115 – Matthew Boyd (DEF/MID, $552,000)
  • 113 – Luke Dahlhaus (FWD/MID, $532,000)
  • 91 – Jake Stringer (FWD, $361,000)
  • 87 – Jordan Roughead (DEF, $296,000)

ON THE RADAR

With Goodes breaking his arm, it’s time to take the $62K he has earned over the first eight rounds and look to upgrade him.

For coaches going for overall ranking, it isn’t advised to bring in a Bulldog as they have the first bye (round 11). It is best to look to upgrade when they are back in round 12. Dahlhaus would be a fantastic option as someone who is looking to be one of the top six forwards.

I would however recommend Mitch Wallis as a good selection this week. With a breakeven of 42, his price is heading north. If you’re not happy with an under-performing premium midfielder, then going to Wallis could be a good way to make some cash.

One of the few downgrade options in the forward line is second gamer Bailey Dale. At $176K, you could offload a rookie who has hit his top price and ride with Dale on the bench. Hopefully he can hold his spot and avoid the vest.

WHAT’S COMING UP

The Bulldogs will meet the in-form GWS Giants at Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Last time they met, Jack Macrae top scored with 134 in the 27 point win. Macrae may make a return to the senior side after 29 disposals for Footscray in the VFL on Sunday.

Matthew Boyd enjoyed a 39 disposal game against the Giants in round four last year.
