For the second week in a row, the Western Bulldogs have come through the senior match with no major injury concerns.
After a high-pressure game against St Kilda on Saturday night, Bulldogs General Manager of Football Graham Lowe said it was a positive to come through unscathed.
“It was great to have a win, a tough game, it was a little bit shorter than some of the other games but certainly there was a lot of running in it for both teams.
“But we come out with no significant injuries so really positive.”
The Footscray side also came through their narrow loss to Sandringham with no major concerns.
Lin Jong and Jordan Kelly didn’t line up for the Dogs in the VFL after not being named in the side due to minor injury concerns.
“Lin’s had a bit of general soreness just in terms of total playing load and he had tight adductors so just really in a precautionary sense we managed him out of the game so we need to make some good decisions around him and make sure he finishes the season strongly.
“Jordan had a low grade adductor strain so we’re just making show that we get that settled down and looking to welcome them (both) back pretty quick.”
Footscray also rested rookie Roarke Smith but Lowe expected him to be available this weekend.
“Roarke’s a young player and he’s played a lot of game time so just from a general management perspective we want to make sure that we manage him through the season and to the back end of it well so we made a decision for him not to play.”
In positive news, young defender Zaine Cordy is moving through his rehab after fracturing his thumb.
“Zaine’s progressing really well and we’re looking to welcome him back in the next two to three weeks, so he’s doing well, it’ll be good to have him back out on the track.”
