Consistency is a trait that comes with time and experience but Daniel Giansiracusa believes the win over Collingwood has the younger  Bulldogs one small step closer to that goal.

Taking confidence from his team’s four quarter performance in round 13, Giansiracusa said the win shows what the young side are capable of but the challenge would be to replicate that effort weekly.

“It takes time to put a game plan in place, obviously your best players playing well helps and at the moment we are in a transition phase that some of our better players are young guys,” Giansiracusa said.

“They are going to have fluctuations throughout not only a season but throughout games.

“Hopefully this gives them the confidence that we can put four quarter efforts in and we have to do that for the remainder of the season.”

The passing of the baton was further demonstrated in the win against Collingwood, with six of the top ten disposal winners under the age of 23.

But Giansiracusa was highly impressed by how his younger teammates handled themselves and lifted when the heat of battle was at its highest.

The young kids’ willingness to have the ball in hand has Giansiracusa confident that the Bulldogs are in good hands for the future.

“We are really excited about (Jack Macrae and Marcus Bontempelli), as well as Hrovat and Lachie Hunter who was in the twos but will come in soon, Jake Stringer,” he said.

“These guys they don’t lack confidence - in a good way they do want the footy in their hands.

“To see those two guys especially stand up when the game was in the balance - it gives not only older players like myself but I’m sure the coaching staff and supporters belief that we are headed in the right direction.”
