Senior Coach Brendan McCartney will continue to reward strong form in the VFL, indicating Mitch Wallis and Tory Dickson were in the mix for senior elevation when the Western Bulldogs take on Melbourne on Saturday night.

While Dickson proved potent in the forward line in his second game back from injury, Wallis continued his dominance around the stoppages with 28 disposals and four tackles.

McCartney said the pair’s standout performance in Williamstown’s 32 point win over the Northern Blues puts them firmly back into senior calculations.

“We’re probably bringing two youngish type players back into the team who have been out of the team for a while, who have played really well at VFL level,” McCartney said.

“We have been pretty consistent when they play well at the level down we generally bring them up.

“Tory is most likely one of those and Mitch Wallis is very close to playing too, both had fantastic games last week in a really good win and we are looking forward to them contributing.”

Dickson looks to have paved his path back into the senior side with a four goal haul and could be a valuable inclusion to the Bulldogs’ goal kicking stocks.

Ranking second in the Club’s goal tally in 2012, the 25-year-old’s second season has been hampered by an ankle injury which has seen him restricted to the sidelines since round three.

“Tory is an AFL player and he has a proven history of kicking goals,” he said.

“He was a week short last week but he’s had two VFL games now so time to bring him back in.”
