Mirroring his football side, Western Bulldogs forward Jack Redpath has come a long way in 2015.
After an eye-catching pre-season, Redpath earned a round one call up but had not played a senior game until his return to the side in round 14 against Carlton.
In his third appearance for the year on Saturday against the Suns, Redpath collected four marks and kicked three goals and was a big contributor in turning the tide against the Suns and the 194-cm forward credited the win to his side’s spirit.
“It was just about us to really get that spirit going and we needed everyone to really knuckle down and we knew we could do it, it was never out of reach,” Redpath said, speaking with Triple M on Sunday.
“It just shows than when everyone knuckles down and sticks to being really positive that we can turn anything around.”
Redpath himself has “knuckled down” in the VFL since round one and his consistent form guided him to earn his spot back in the senior side.
The forward cites his close relationship with both senior coach Luke Beveridge and assistant coach Daniel Giansiracusa as the main driver in his return.
“I just like to play the game and just treat it as any game of footy and just try and enjoy it and I think he (Beveridge) does that well.
“He’s just easy to talk to. I find you can go into his office whenever and talk to him about anything so I reckon that’s a real strength of his and even our coaching group.
“I’ve got Daniel Giansiracusa as my forwards coach and I’ve got a great relationship with him so he’s been a massive help for my footy this year.”
Physically, Redpath is in the best shape of his career, after suffering two knee reconstructions when he was younger.
“At the moment I feel the best I ever have.
“I haven’t had an injury on my knee for three or four years so they’re feeling the best they ever have.”
