Dale Morris had one message for his teammates after the final siren on Thursday at Domain Stadium.  It doesn’t stop here.

Speaking to BulldogsTV in the rooms post-match, Morris said the Bulldogs got the win because everyone played their role.

While it doesn’t make for eye-catching headlines, it is how you win games of football in September.

And with the Hawks now officially on the horizon, the message is more important than ever.

“Everyone played their role perfectly, for the whole game and we need that, Morris said.

“We need that next week, we need the same thing, it doesn’t stop now, we’re going to keep on pushing on.

“Everyone’s got to play their role and you never know.“

With his voice failing him and words deserting him, Morris couldn’t hide the pride he felt for a group who did what the football world said they couldn’t do, cut down a red-hot Eagles in Perth.

“Words can’t describe…. We don’t have a great record out here and for the boys to come out and do what they did, it’s an amazing feeling and something we’ll bottle up.

“It’s a great feeling for the guys.”

Debuting in 2005, Thursday night was game 227 for the old warhorse, but it may just have been the best one yet.

“It’s right up there without doubt.

“To come over here against the Eagles who’ve been playing some great footy, on their home deck... we’ve had our share of injuries and all that but we’ve regrouped.

“I think you can tell I’m pretty proud.

“Some of these boys were playing in their first final and to get a win over here is something else, so, we’ll enjoy this.”
