Two weeks ago, the Western Bulldog were sitting in third place on the AFL Ladder with just the one intestate game, plus Geelong, on the run home.
It’s an indication of how tight the competition is at the top end of the ladder that with two tight losses in succession the Dogs have fallen to seventh, on equal points with the eight-placed North Melbourne.
But, with just the one top-eight opponent in the next four rounds and with three of the four remaining games in Melbourne, the Dogs are still well within striking distance of a top-four finish and the double chance.
This Saturday night’s clash with the Roos will be important in shaping the Dogs’ September outlook, so Luke Beveridge will be looking for this boys to bounce back quickly from Friday night’s loss to the Cats.
