The strength of the Western Bulldogs’ commitment to the Ballarat region continues to grow, with the Club’s community programs starting to take shape in the region.

Bulldogs Ballarat Engagement Manager Brett Goodes said he was feeling positive about the direction of the Club's relationship with the region at a grassroots level.

“I think our focus is mainly on our community programs, our involvement in schools and our presence in town through those programs,” said Goodes, speaking with Sportsday radio on Monday.

“Programs like the Bulldogs Read program, which is based around reading and writing for schools with disadvantaged backgrounds, it’s really pleasing to see some of the work these kids have been able to do.

“I think the memberships and support will come with doing that work in the community.”

Alongside Bulldogs Read, the Bulldogs have also launched their Sons of the West and The Whitten Project programs in the region.

The highly-successful Sons of the West men’s health program will kick off in Ballarat on Monday 6 June and runs through until August.

The Club also launched youth leadership program The Whitten Project in Ballarat in May, with 15 students from the region participating in the 2016 program.
