History was against the Western Bulldogs in Perth on Thursday night.
The Club was attempting to win the first interstate final in its history and Luke Beveridge had made five changes to the side that was beaten badly by Fremantle at Domain Stadiumjust ten days earlier.
Were the inclusions fit to play? Could the Dogs win on a ground that they hadn’t saluted at since 2009?
So many questions, one emphatic answer.
But for Jordan Roughead, he already has an eye on what’s next.
“It’s elation, it’s happiness but just knowing that it’s back to work and ready to go again in eight-days-time,” he said.
Speaking to media at Perth Airport on Saturday morning, the 25-year-old said the group will be quickly putting the lid back on the post match euphoria, there’s work to do.
“As good as it was we’re hoping we’re not finished yet – there’s a few more wins to come.”
The Dogs were clinical in their demolition of the home side and Roughead said it was a great start to September campaign, but only a start.
“Bevo spoke last night about it, it’s the monkey off the back, it’s the first time we’ve won a final and for some of us it’s the first time we’ve played in a final.
“It’s a great start to what we hope is a long finals campaign.”
Roughead: ‘Great win; back to work’
