The Western Bulldogs have opted for youth against Fremantle in Saturday night’s NAB Cup clash, with Adam Cooney the sole Bulldog inclusion to have played more than 50 career games.
Cooney joins Jarrad Grant (50), Easton Wood (42) and Nick Lower (42) as the only players in the selected side to have played more than 35 career games.
At the opposite end of the spectrum rookie Alex Greenwood looks poised to make his senior debut and will bolster the Bulldogs midfield stocks, while Patrick Veszpremi will make his first appearance for 2013.
Draftee Jackson Macrae has also retained his spot for the third consecutive week in a show of faith from the coaching staff of his progress throughout the pre-season.
The Dogs tall timber will receive a boost with the inclusion of Jack Redpath, Michael Talia and Mark Austin to rotate through the key posts and stake their claim on a regular senior spot during the premiership season.
The Western Bulldogs take on Fremantle at Mandurah on Saturday night at 3:30pm AWDT (6:30pm EDST) with the 27 man squad set to be reduced to 24 in the coming days.
