Incoming Western Bulldogs CEO Ameet Bains says he’ll be bringing a people focused approach when he joins the Club officially in December.
Bains arrives at the Club after six years with the St.Kilda Football Club, most recently as its Chief Operation Officer and was the unanimous choice of the Bulldogs Board’s nominations subcommittee.
“Going into the Bulldogs, a club that’s really well positioned both on field and off field given their recent success, is really a people focused approach,” he told 3AW on Monday night.
“There’s clearly a really talented team across the business and it’s really helping that team continue to drive the future success of the club.”
The Bulldogs finished just outside the final eight in 2017, but with one of the youngest playing lists in the competition, Bains said he is optimistic about what the future might bring at Victoria University Whitten Oval in 2018 and beyond.
“I don’t think you can expect it’s just going to happen, but there’s got to be a lot of confidence taken out of the fact that this club, with a few list changes, won the premiership thirteen months ago so will be in a strong position to contend again next year.”
The 2015 winner of the AFL’s Graeme Samuel Scholarship, Bains combines his passion for football with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Monash University as well as a Bachelor of Business (Banking & Finance) and says he is looking forward to working with president Peter Gordon and his Board in taking the club forward.
“I’ve got to know Peter a bit as you’d expect during this process [and] I think the club is really fortunate to have someone who’s so committed, loyal and passionate at the helm.”
