Three familiar faces return to the Western Bulldogs side to face Melbourne on Saturday, with Tory Dickson, Mitch Wallis and Ayce Cordy all earning recalls after impressing at VFL level.

A four goal haul saw Dickson return to form last weekend for Williamstown against a strong Northern Blues outfit, in just his second game back from an ankle injury.

Senior Coach Brendan McCartney said the forward’s goal nous and composure will add to the Bulldogs forward options.

“Tory is an AFL player and he has a proven history of kicking goals,” McCartney said.

“He was a week short last week but he’s had two VFL games now so time to bring him back in.”

Wallis demanded attention at the selection table this week after putting in another trademark performance through the midfield for the Seagulls, collecting 30 possessions and showing his dominance around the stoppages.

Averaging 18 disposals and four tackles per game in the seniors this season, the father-son selection found confidence at VFL level in recent weeks and has increased his capacity to shake a tag.

Cordy will also make his return to senior football on Saturday after a solid hit out in the VFL, taking eight marks and having a hand in a number of scoring opportunities for the Seagulls, including kicking a goal of his own.

Assistant Coach Steven King said it was exciting to see the versatile tall come back into the side, for his first senior game since round four.

“Ayce Cordy [is] back from a leg [injury]… so it’s great to see him get another opportunity,” King said.

King was also impressed by last weekend’s debutant Lachie Hunter, who had 19 touches on debut and showed he can be a dynamic force in the forward line.

“I thought Lachie Hunter up forward in his first game had a real influence and had some shots on goal that really should have nearly been rewarded for kicking two or three,” he said.

“So he had a great influence there and I guess great to see another father-son come and contribute for the Club.”

Brett Goodes will miss this Saturday’s clash with a wrist injury, while Liam Picken and Lukas Markovic have been omitted from the side.
