With the 2017 NAB AFL Draft just days away, the experts have been busy collating their talent orders, mock drafts, and who they think each club will select on Friday night.
The Dogs will take picks 9, 16 and 79 to Sydney, so with a host of talented players available in the first round, who might be donning the red, white and blue by the end of the week?
According to ESPN’s Chistopher Doerre, lifelong Dogs fan Nick Coffield would be a good fit for the Club at pick 9, with Morrish Medal winning midfielder Jack Higgins taken at pick 16.
Brett Anderson of SEN also sees Higgins going at 16, but has gone with Aaron Naughton, a tall defender from the Peel Thunder being selected with the ninth pick.
Other names in the mix for Dogs according to Anderson are Coffield, Dandenong Stingray Hunter Clark, local product Lachlan Fogarty, and versatile tall Nathan Murphy.
Fox Footy’s Ben Waterworth has also suggested that Coffield might go at pick 9 to the Dogs, whereas the Herald Sun’s Sam Landsberger agrees with SEN’s Anderson that Naughton will be snapped up with the Club’s first pick.
Over at The Age, names floated by Daniel Cherny are Ed Richards, Higgins, Patrick Naish and Nathan Murphy.
The draft will be begin around 7pm on Friday, November 24 at the Sydney Showgrounds.
