Developing ruckman Tim English will work through training this week to determine his availability to play.
English was a late withdrawal from the Dogs’ clash with Brisbane on Saturday, with medical services manager Chris Bell saying the Club didn’t want to take any risks him after receiving some knocks in the previous week.
“Tim was a late withdrawal on this weekend’s team sheet. He copped some heavy knocks in the Richmond game, and we didn’t want to take any risks with Tim,” Bell said.
“We didn’t want him to have any persistent soreness where he wasn’t able to perform at one hundred percent.
“We’ll work through a process with Tim this week to determine his availability.”
A late withdrawal from the VFL side on Sunday, Lin Jong looks likely to return to play this weekend after suffering a ruptured appendix three weeks ago.
“Lin was really pushing to make a return on the weekend, but we held him over and gave him a really solid training session,” Bell said
“He’ll continue to train this week as planned and his availability will come this weekend.”
Fergus Greene will integrate into some more training this week, while defender Taylor Duryea is making great progress in his return from a hip injury sustained in round four.
“Fergus continues to make leaps and bounds in his recovery from his ankle injury. He is integrating back into some training this week and will be in full training next week ahead of his scheduled return,” Bell said.
“It’s still early on in Taylor’s return to play plan, although he’s making some really good progress.
“He’s returned to running outside and pulling up really well. He is still on track to return over the next month or so.”
