Talking about dreaming – Ryan Gardner will have been on cloud nine this week.
Monday, drafted. Tuesday, told he’ll debut.
Sunday? He’ll be ready to go.
Three years on Geelong’s list, then delisted, then signed by the Bulldogs after impressing for Footscray this season.
It’s an unbelievable story. It’s just got… ‘the vibe’.

2. Battle of the west
Travelling west hasn’t been all that fruitful for us in recent years.
We’ve come away with one win from our past 13 trips to Perth, albeit a pretty important – and impressive – win at the start of our 2016 finals campaign.
That said, this is a new group, and there’s no time like the present to claim four points in WA.
We were close a month against Fremantle, and we know a determined Bulldogs outfit will turn up on Sunday afternoon ready for a big challenge against the reigning premiers.
3. He’ll tackle Yeo
The Eagles have stars across every line – which makes sense, they won the flag last year!
One of those stars is Elliot Yeo, and he’s been a force to be reckoned with over the past fortnight in and around the footy.
He’s stuck 31 tackles in two weeks. Thirty-one.
Over the previous eight rounds, he’d laid 44 – still pretty impressive numbers, which sees him as the AFL’s equal leading tackler after 10 games, alongside Adelaide’s Rory Sloane.
4. English lessons
We’re talking about our man Tim English.
The big fella has shown plenty of promise in 2019 already, and he will have an important role to play if the Bulldogs are to get up on Sunday when he returns to his home state.
Taking on the number one ruck role, English has been learning from the best on the job – taking on the likes of Brodie Grundy and Todd Goldstein, just to name two.
This week he gets Nathan Vardy, and if he can give his midfielders first-use against a potent Eagles’ midfield group, our chances of victory increase significantly.
