Playmaker Ryan Griffen will join a coveted list of Western Bulldogs players when he pulls-on the Red, White and Blue guernsey for the 150th time this Saturday night against the Gold Coast Suns.
Lining-up in this milestone match couldn't come at a better time for the in-form 25 year-old who has taken his game to a new level in Season 2012, highlighted by a career high 37 disposals in Round 5.
Watch highlights of Ryan Griffen's first 149 Games for the Bulldogs on the media player above or the Club Mobile App.
Griffen will also look to match his personal best 12 inside 50s for a third consecutive week after scoring the feat against Collingwood and then matching his efforts last weekend against North Melbourne.
Griffen is a Bulldog through and through - when given the chance to sign a two year contract extension over the pre-season he didn't hesitate.
“I just love the place, the people, the Club, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” Griffen said.
His silky skills led him to win the Charles Sutton Medal in 2010, while his consistency saw him poll third behind Captain Matthew Boyd and All Australian Robert Murphy in last year's vote count.
It did not take long for Ryan Griffen to impress new Senior Coach Brendan McCartney who recognised his midfielder's high work rate over what was an already gruelling pre-season campaign.
“Ryan is a very gifted footballer… he works very hard,” McCartney said.
Originally drafted from South Australia in the 2004 AFL National Draft (pick no. 3 overall), Griffen made an impact early.
He played out 17 senior games in his debut season with his efforts earning him a Rising Star Nomination.
Seven seasons on he is one of the most influential players in the Bulldogs line-up, frequently named amongst the best afield - a true professional who wears the hoops with pride.
