On the back of a strong win against Fremantle, the Western Bulldogs are well represented in the AFL.com.au round 19 Team of the Week.
Midfielders Jack Macrae and Marcus Bontempelli have received call-ups, as has in-form goal-kicker Bailey Dale.
With their team under the pump late against Port Adelaide, Greater Western Sydney pair Phil Davis and Nick Haynes were immense, taking 23 marks between them. Cat Mark O'Connor made life a misery for Sydney opponent Tom Papley, while Dylan Grimes continued a fine season in the absence of Alex Rance. Kade Simpson was excellent in Carlton's upset win over Adelaide and Lewis Jetta joined him at half-back for his exquisite ball-use against the Roos.
Patrick Cripps was Herculean for the Blues, putting up video game type numbers in his team's win. Fellow superstar Dustin Martin looked a class above Collingwood in the wet conditions on Friday night, while Travis Boak continued his prolific season with another 40 touches against GWS. Seb Ross played arguably his best game of the season, as did Jack Macrae in the Bulldogs' comfortable win over the Dockers. Jarrod Witts again proved why Gold Coast was so astute in making him co-captain with another monster outing.
It was a tough week to make the forward line with Josh Kennedy kicking seven against North Melbourne, Tom Hawkins five in his 250th against the Swans and Tom Lynch also five against the Magpies. Bailey Dale backed up his five goals the previous week with another four on Sunday, while Jake Stringer was superb in his midfield-forward hybrid role, turning the momentum against the Suns. Dayne Zorko did likewise in leading his team to victory over Hawthorn.
After some lean weeks in recent times, Tim Kelly bounced back to his best. Young Docker Andrew Brayshaw was terrific despite his team being soundly beaten, finishing with 26 touches and three goals. Lachie Neale and Marcus Bontempelli did what they always do – found plenty of footy and helped drive their teams to strong wins.
