Western Bulldogs midfielder Jack Macrae says that he won’t spend time worrying about Nat Fyfe and the powerful Fremantle engine room as both sides gear up for the beginning of their AFL Premiership Season on Sunday.

Even in the absence of ruckman Aaron Sandilands, Fremantle boast the reigning Brownlow Medallist alongside Michael Barlow, David Mundy and rising star Lachie Neale in the middle, but Macrae has told westernbulldogs.com.au that the young Dogs will be focusing on their own game.

“They’ve got some great players in there,” Macrae said.

“But if we stick to the basics and work as a team in the midfield group - we’ve got quite a long, deep group that can run through the midfield, and that’s a great strength of ours.

“Just working together – no one is going to stop those players by themselves, so we’ll stick together and roll over them through the whole game.”

Talking to gathered media on Thursday at the AFL Season Launch, skipper Bob Murphy said that the Dockers were his ideal round one opponent, in that tough, well-drilled Dockers would be an ideal hit-out to launch the Bulldogs’ 2016 campaign.

Macrae agreed, saying that Ross Lyon’s team would be a ‘great test’ for the young group, but for the most part, the 21-year old midfielder is ready to put the pre-season behind him and get into the real stuff.

“Everyone has got through the pre-season really fit and firing and worked on the things we wanted to work on and I think everyone is just excited to get out there on Sunday.”
