Season Overview:
A vital cog in the Bulldogs forward line, Shaun Higgins surpassed the 100 game milestone in round 14 against Essendon. Playing out 19 games for the season, the 24-year-old was a consistent contributor to the scoreboard, kicking goals on 13 occasions. While predominantly playing in the forward line, Higgins also showed his versatility shifting back into defence on a number of occasions. A hamstring injury briefly interrupted his season but he returned in round 21 to play out the season.
By the Numbers:
Despite playing only one extra game on last year, Higgins managed to kick ten more majors to place third in the Club’s goal kicking. He also came fifth in goal assists (ten), ninth in total disposals, seventh in inside 50s, second in marks inside 50m and ninth in contested possessions at the Club.
Season Highlight:
Higgins best game was in round 16 against Hawthorn. He accumulated 18 disposals at 83% efficiency, took six marks and laid six tackles. He also had a season high three goals and one goal assist, in a game where majors were hard to come by for the home side.
Pre-Season Focus:
Another player who will greatly benefit from an injury free pre-season, Higgins will be keen to maximise the opportunity to prepare without any post season operations. As a result, Higgins will look to add to his tank so he can add some class and depth through the midfield.
