The honest defender provided plenty of run out of the defensive half as well as bolstering the experienced stocks in the back six. The 1999 draftee played 12 games for the season and was particularly effective early. He notched up 200 career games in round 10 against Sydney.

Not only was Hargrave able to improve on his five games from last season but the quality of his output also improved averaging 20.3 disposals per game (the second highest average in his career). His accuracy also improved by 12% on last year, while he also managed to take over two more marks per game.
