The Footscray Bulldogs have secured victory over Carlton at Mission Whitten Oval on Sunday afternoon.
The back-and-forth affair saw the Dogs run away with the lead in the second quarter, finishing the game with a 13.10 (88) to 12.7 (79) triumph.
The opening term was a back-and-forth scoring affair with Footscray opening an early lead, but Carlton’s efficiency inside-50 helped to secure a late buffer in the first.
In similar fashion, the second term was another see-sawing spectacle as the two sides struggled to take a big enough lead from one another.
Despite Carlton’s goal efficiency, the Dogs were able to stay with the visitors in the first half heading into the main break down by just two.
It was similar again in the second half as scores swung, before Cooper Craig-Peters got the ball rolling for the Dogs to kick away.
Despite the visitors putting up a fight, Footscray had the ultimate say and locked in the lead mid-way through the third term to eventually secure the victory.
Riley Garcia remained strong for the Dogs, finishing with two goals and 33 disposals, while Anthony Scott was Footscray’s major ball-winner, finishing with 35 disposals and 10 clearances.
Footscray will now turn its attention to face Geelong at GMHBA on Saturday.
