Western Bulldogs Development Coach and Williamstown Senior Coach Peter German looks at how the Bulldogs listed players performed in their one point defeat over Port Melbourne on Saturday.

Tom Hill: Played mainly forward this week. Kicked one goal two behinds - so he had some good opportunities but it was a tough day for tall forwards in the conditions. In the end of the day he played his role.

Andrew Hooper: It is probably his best game since he returned from injury. I think his second half was really positive - he crumbed, he pressured and he kicked an important goal for us in the last quarter. He is another one that kicked one goal three behinds, so he could have really had a great performance if he was able to kick straight. One of our better players on the day.

Ryan Hargrave: Shaggy was good. His experience really came through at times. He was clean with his ball handling and at the end of the day made some good plays for us with his experience to be able to do the right thing at the right thing was really good for our young team.

Nathan Djerrkura: He was ok in the conditions. He was in and under and got some ball momentum going our way in crucial times. Laid some tackles and played a good physical in and under game.

Brodie Moles: Brodie was a little bit in and out of the game. He played wing and on ball. He did show his class at times in the conditions to be able to kick the football to some important positions and get clean possession into our forward 50. His tackling was a good part of his game this week.

Matt Panos: Not a day for key forwards. Matt played there most of the day and set up two goals for us - we only kicked seven for the game and Matt’s footy smarts set up two of them. It was a difficult day for our forwards.

Alex Greenwood: He is beginning to have more influence on the game and spend more time in the midfield. He is growing each week with his midfield role and having a greater impact. In the conditions was a good player for us.

Lin Jong: He had an accountable role this week as a half back flanker and a wingman and did a very good job. He was really focused on the role he had to play and showed real power and speed. It was a real positive game after probably a month where he had been a little bit ill and had a couple of weeks rest so it was a good return.

Fletcher Roberts: Fletch played down back - he would have been one of our good defenders. Port Melbourne have a lot of good attacking forwards in their team and Fletch was strong in his defensive play. He plays his role each week and is showing good composure in those roles.

Zephaniah Skinner: He did some exciting things just with his ball handling and creativeness in the conditions. It was a game where you might have expected Zephy to not have much influence but he was right in amongst it at ground level and winning his own ball.

Justin Sherman: He was probably our best player in the end. With the weight of numbers he really worked hard to win the ball and he was able to find some space and ended up kicking three important goals for us. I was really pleased with his attitude. He was one of the leaders who was really vocal. He started to really understand how we want him to play and he did that well in the second half.

Dylan Addison: Dyl played up forward. After coming back from an injury he was good. He was a real good opportunist for us as a forward. Went the right way about it and kicked two really good goals for us in the fourth quarter.

Tom Campbell: Rucked for the majority of the game and was a real key part to being able to set up our on ballers. He really competed well and with his second efforts followed up really well. He is learning more about himself and the game each week and was a key contributor.

Michael Talia: He was like Fletcher Roberts - had a real role to play on Billy Burstin who has been one of their key players for a few years now. He did a really good job on him and stuck to his gun. He is playing a really good, competitive style of football where he is really hard on his opponent and playing with aggression. He is making real inroads in his development.
