Western Bulldogs skipper Easton Wood knows what his side is capable of.
And so is the rest of the competition, after an impressive win against Richmond on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs had shown glimpses of their best prior to that win against the Tigers, before it all came together in one match.
But with a 3-4 record, the onus is now on Wood and group his side to back that up on Saturday against the Brisbane Lions in Ballarat, and for the remainder of the season.
“We’ve got a young group, and I feel like particularly with the performance on the weekend, we were able to put together everything that we’ve been working on for a long time,” Wood said.
“Our challenge is to be able to do that every week now.
“It was great to see some guys playing some of their best football. When we get guys being able to get the best out of themselves, we normally get a pretty even performance.”
The Bulldogs remain a relatively young side, with only player aged above 30 in last week’s side and seven players with less than 30 games under their belt.
However, Wood said that did not impact the team’s mindset at all.
“We’re never looking at how old we are, how young we are, whatever it is,” he said.
“It’s just a matter of – this is the plan, we’ve got the 22 to execute it, let’s go out and find a way to execute it.
“I’ve certainly got a lot of belief in this group and what we’re capable of.
“When we put it together like we did on the weekend, that ceiling looks pretty high.
“I’m really positive and buoyed about particularly a performance like that, and I’m going to keep pushing the boys to make sure we can grow on that and keep producing each week.”
