Jordan Kelly
Jordan was back from his hand injury, he played predominantly on the ball, inside mid and just really tried hard all day. They were a physical side and Jordan stood up to that well, his contested footy was good and his clearance numbers were fantastic. So looking forward to seeing him back in the action.
Daniel Pearce
Daniel played in the midfield again. It was a little bit of a quieter game possession-wise but we were really impressed with how hard he attacked the footy, his contested ball and in particular his tackling. He had some really big strong tackles on a mature group, the Richmond boys were starting to get a bit willing and Daniel really played a strong game of footy.
Sam Darley
Sam had a little bit of a role change, he had a run on the wing and just using his legs and carrying the ball. He used the ball really well by foot and hand and that’s what he’s in the team for, it was a strong performance by Sammy.
Matt Fuller
Matt returned from injury, it was great to see him get through a whole game of footy, I think it was a bit of a relief for him but as the game went on, Matt got better and better and started to use the ball and became quite influential in the last quarter so his footy is going to get better obviously with some continuity and games.
Lachie Hunter
One of Lachie’s best games of the year. He needs to just finish his work, could have kicked three or four goals and it was a really good game by Lachie. It would have been an outstanding game finishing those but we look at how he’s getting it and we’ve been impressed with his work rate and his contested footy, and just his ball use has been another focus for Lachie and he’s doing well in that area.
Mitch Honeychurch
Mitch was really competitive in his second game back from a little break and he was a real livewire for us. He kicked a nice goal and could have sealed the game late in the game, he was a bit dirty on himself missing the goal but really great to see him back up and about and just his competitiveness and hardness in the contest, he’s only a little man but he gives his all every week.
Declan Hamilton
Declan had a quiet start but then built into the game. He really had some nice pieces of work where he tapped the ball on or used the ball well. The highlight for me was his composure in the last minute of the game where he decided that he was going to have a shot on goal and ran the clock down a bit and passed it off and he showed great maturity to be thinking that like that. His game’s growing, he’s only a young man, he’s pretty underdeveloped, he’s going to take some more time in the gym but he’s coming along nicely.
Jack Redpath
It was a good pressure game from Jack. He didn’t hit the scoreboard a lot, he had some numbers to deal with down there but he kept tackling and harassing and chasing all game and it was a really competitive game from Jack and he looked after his young teammates pretty well too, so that was an important role that he plays.
Caleb Daniel
Caleb’s classy. He really brought others into the game with some really quick hands and some really good decisions around the contest. His finish by foot’s generally good and just his work rate up and down the ground, so he’s finding some good form.
Roarke Smith
Roarke plays as a defender and he’s really good at his intercepts. He’s good above his head and he took a crucial mark late in the game that just calmed everything down. He’s a pretty relaxed character but it’s good to see him doing really well and he’s using the ball a lot better and he’s understanding the set ups and structures and he’s going along really well.
Tom Campbell
Tommy’s playing in the ruck obviously, he plays forward and took some nice grabs around the ground. He kicked a really important goal. Tom’s focusing really hard on his follow up and work rate around the ground and he’s a big man, we just really want to see him dominate some VFL games of footy and I’m sure he’ll be pressing for AFL footy soon.
Josh Prudden
Josh played a half and ended up being a carry over for the AFL side so he’s getting close. He plays as a defender and his ball use and decision making are really top notch at the minute and we’re looking forward to hopefully Josh making his debut shortly.
Lin Jong
Jongy played inside mid all day and just kept smashing in to get the ball, it was great to see him bring others into play with his second jumping and his hardness in and around the contest with his tackling and ferocity at the ball and just his run and carry out of stoppages is really important for us.
Ayce Cordy
It was one of his best games I’ve seen him play. He kicked six and dominated in the ruck and obviously marking up forward. Six straight so he’ll take that every day of the week. He’s coming along really nicely and if he just keeps working on his game, another opportunity should present.
Shane Biggs
Shane was very dominant off half-back, he provided a lot of run and carry for the side. His ball use was really good. He’s growing as a player every game he plays for the Club and he’s starting to understand how we want to play and obviously playing with new teammates he’s understanding how they all play and it’s helping his game, but he had a fantastic game off half-back.
Michael Talia
Michael took up a key defensive post. He kept his man to have a limited impact which is important. He provided some run from behind for us and ball use and Michael again, is knocking right on the door of AFL footy. It’s great to have such competition for spots, and Michael’s another one pressing his name up every week.
