On acquiring Pick 4 (now 5)...
“It was obviously a priority coming into the period – getting pick four and having a look at the top end of the draft pool. It was a long time in the works with Gold Coast, so to get that out of the way on day one was a positive and something we’re really excited about.
“There’s a mix of players (at that top end). There’s some inside midfielders, some forwards with real speed, more utility players with a bit of versatility and high-end talent – we’ll do the work on that over the next four weeks, but we know at that pick we will get access to a really good player.
On James Harmes...
“We’re really excited to bring James in, just to add to our midfield with some different attributes with his running ability and his power around the contest. He’s got a real sort of team-first, defensive mindset which will add to our midfield group, and he’s also got some versatility. We’re comfortable playing James as a high half-forward or even out on the wing, but clearly obviously inside as well.
On Nick Coffield...
“We’re really excited – it was good to get that deal done. Nick will add to our defensive area with his versatility – he’s 190cm so can play a bit taller if he needs to, and is highly talented too. Over 2020-2021 he played some really good footy with the Saints, but has had some injury interruptions over the last two years so we’re really keen to get him back to full fitness.
On the upcoming Draft...
“Having an early pick will be fantastic – just having access to that end of the pool as mentioned. Obviously then we’ve got some points considerations as well, with Jordan Croft nominating the Club. That’ll play out where a bid comes for him, but we’ll look to have another 1-2 selections at the back end of the Draft too.
