Western Bulldogs vice-captain Marcus Bontempelli has jumped to equal second spot on the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year leaderboard.
Despite the Bulldogs going down to the Gold Coast Suns by five points on Sunday, the 23-year-old midfielder was best afield in the eyes of both coaches.
It’s the second time Bontempelli has polled a perfect 10 votes in 2019, after round one, taking his tally to 25 – equal with Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield, and one in arrears of his teammate Tim Kelly.
Bontempelli has 34 disposals, plus seven inside-50s and six clearances.
He was one of three Bulldogs among the coaches’ votes – with Tom Liberatore (two) and Matt Suckling (one) also featuring.
Five Suns featured in the votes, led by Jack Martin (six), Jack Bowes (four) and Lachie Weller (four).
Brayden Fiorini (two) and Jarrod Witts (one) rounded out the vote-getters for the Suns.
