The Bulldogs could welcome back as many as four players to the senior line-up from injury this Sunday against the Demons, while the playing group has emerged unscathed from the weekend’s win over Port Adelaide.
Despite Jake Stringer copping a couple of heavy knocks during the game, Bulldogs General Manager of Football Graham Lowe said the forward had recovered well from the match.
“It was a pleasing result from the game and we come through in a really positive sense from an injury perspective.
“Jake certainly got a few knocks and bumps but he’s turned up well this morning so he’s looking good to be available for this week.”
Captain Bob Murphy and defender Josh Prudden did not play against the Power due to general soreness, but both are expected to be available for selection to face Melbourne.
“A couple of games with some big running volume in them and a six day turnaround so it was important to manage a couple of key players there in Josh Prudden and obviously Bob Murphy as well, so it’s really pleasing to say that they’re both available to be selected for this week.”
Vice-captain Jordan Roughead (foot) and fellow defender Fletcher Roberts (ankle) are also expected to return from their respective injuries.
“It’s great to welcome them both back into the fold, they’ve got to get through the training later this week but they’re looking good, both to be available to play and be selected for this weekend.”
Jason Johannisen was a late withdrawal from the match due to hamstring tightness and is expected to miss one week.
“JJ came out of training with some hamstring tightness last week so we took a conservative approach especially considering given what a power and speed athlete he is.
“Our plan is to do the same this weekend so he won’t be available this weekend but certainly our expectation, and we’ll give him every opportunity to achieve this, is that he’s available for next week.”
