The Western Bulldogs have confirmed their 2023 VFLW playing list, headlined by the addition of former AFLW footballer and All Australian Kate McCarthy.
McCarthy will be a playing/assistant coach for the red, white and blue in 2023.
She was initially drafted by Brisbane with pick 82 in the inaugural 2016 Draft, where she played 23 games across three seasons, and selected in the 2017 All Australian team.
McCarthy then moved to expansion side St Kilda in 2020, playing a further 16 games across another three seasons before being signed by Hawthorn as a delisted free agent ahead of season seven.
The Bulldogs have also recruited former AFLW-listed duo Jaimi Tabb and Brianna McFarlane.
Tabb played three games for Adelaide in the COVID-disrupted 2020 season, while McFarlane spent 2018-19 with the Lions.
Amanda Ling has also committed to the VFLW Bulldogs for season 2023, after spending two seasons on the senior list.
As announced last month, Mary Sandral will enter her fourth season in the red, white and blue, and first season as captain.
She will be supported by co-vice captains Mikayla Barnes and Melanie Freeman.
Other returning players include Madeline Marks, Stephanie Asciak, Tahlia Meier and Tarrah Delgado-Hwang to name a few.
The new-look side will be led by incoming head coach Rhys Cahir, with the Bulldogs to kick off their VFLW campaign this Sunday morning at Mars Stadium against Casey.
