Reigning Club Champion Kirsty Lamb says fans can expect to see a slightly different game-style from the Western Bulldogs in AFLW season seven.

The Dogs just entered week 10 of their preseason, but will now turn their attention to their season opener on Sunday 28 August against the Giants.

Lamb said things are on track at the Kennel, despite returning to football earlier than what they’re used to.

“It’s been a shorter preseason than usual, and obviously a short turnaround as well with only a month or two break (between), but our group is going really well,” she told Gerard Whateley on SEN on Thursday morning.

“We had a little break and then rolled straight into preseason – but everyone is looking very fit, so hopefully you’ll see the Bulldogs play a pretty free and open style of football this year.”

The Bulldogs added six recruits to their list during the off-season, including former Roo Daisy Bateman, former Cat Millie Brown, and former Blue Brooke Vernon.

Lamb said she’s been particularly impressed by the draftees however, who are juggling footy commitments with Year 12 studies.

“We’ve obviously lost some personnel to expansion sides this year, but in saying that we’ve picked up three 17-year-olds who have come in and fit into our group really well,” Lamb said.

“They’ve come through the system and pathway that once wasn’t there for a lot of players, so they’re going to be really exciting to watch.

“We’ve picked another three up from other clubs as well, so while we’re still very, very young, as I said before we want to play a really open and free style of football this season.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing how we play next Sunday against GWS.”
