The Western Bulldogs have fallen short to a Geelong avalanche at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday night.

An eight-goal third quarter was the catalyst for the home side, with the Bulldogs unable to slow the momentum of their run and the home crowd.

Despite leading by 11-points at half-time, the visitors were overrun eventually falling 14.10 (94) to 9.12 (60).

Ed Richards was a shining light for the Dogs, collecting 28 disposals and eleven marks in a strong performance.

Josh Dunkley grabbed 24 touches and two goals in another prominent display for the visitors.

Bailey Dale and Marcus Bontempelli tried hard for the Dogs, while Tom Liberatore did his best to curtail the powerful Geelong midfield.

Cody Weightman kicked three goals and provided a spark up front again for the red, white and blue.

The game started at a frenetic pace with the Dogs kicking the first four goals of the contest, leading the Cats by 19-points at the early break.

A lovely set shot early in the second from Ugle-Hagan pushed the lead out beyond four goals, before the home side took over, piling on three successive goals to finish the second half.

The third and fourth quarter was all the Cats, kicking ten goals to one in a dominant second half.

The Bulldogs will next face Fremantle on Saturday afternoon at Marvel Stadium.
