It's still very early in the piece to be evaluating the Bulldogs of 2007 as compared with the 2006 vintage, but Brian Harris has been encouraged by what he's seen so far.The real proof of the pudding will come when a full-strength side takes the field in round one, but with the Dogs preparing to take on Brisbane on Friday night, Harris said the form of some Bulldog pups had caught his eye."Probably the one thing I've noticed so far is the depth of the younger guys is getting a lot better," Harris said from Telstra Dome on Thursday."The guys that played on the weekend and even in the practice games have improved a lot. The recruits we've got in Malcolm Lynch and Jarrod Harbrow have done very well since they've been with us as well."That's probably the big thing we've seen so far is that the depth of the club is very good."Harris also has high hopes for former Eagle forward Andrew McDougall who joined the club via trade week in the off-season and will get another chance to impress against the Lions. The 23-year-old managed 38 games in his six years with the Eagles and while his arrival at Whitten Oval didn't come with the same fanfare as that of Jason Akermanis, Harris maintained he could prove to be a very handy pick-up."He's done very well since he's come over. He had a slight injury over pre-season, but he's done all the training and done everything that's been expected of him; he's fit in very well," he said."He's tall enough and he's quick, but we don't want to put too much pressure on him … he's still very young and raw, so we'll just try and get as much experience into him as possible and teach him about the game as well so hopefully he can develop very quickly for us."He's just been unlucky with injuries (over his career) I think. He's been in rehab a fair bit and hasn't been on the field as much as he'd like or expect. With the way we play as well - it's a bit different from West Coast - so it takes time to learn that and adapt to that as well."
