Williamstown have suffered a disappointing 69-point loss to rivals Port Melbourne at the weekend.
After a tight first quarter, the Borough pulled away from their Seagulls opponents over the course of the match, keeping them goalless in the final three quarters to win 13.10 (88) to 2.7 (19).
The constant rain and slippery conditions turned North Port Oval into an almost lake-like appearance, which suited the bigger bodies of the Port Melbourne players given the contested nature of the game.
Christian Howard and Lukas Markovic were the Seagulls’ two solitary goal scorers for the match, each slotting their goals in the opening quarter.
Defenders Mark Austin and Cameron Lockwood both played their negating roles well in the back six, while ruckman Tom Campbell also stood up despite the less than favourable conditions.
The loss now sees the Seagulls drop to fourth position on the VFL Ladder, with an important clash ahead of them against the Frankston Dolphins this Saturday.
