Addressing media at Tuesday morning’s captain’s run, Beveridge said he’s looking forward to seeing how his side has improved since facing the Demons last September.
“Every preseason you’re determined to be a better version of what you were last year – you employ your players to improve over the journey, and train hard obviously,” he said.
“(The disappointment of last year’s result) won’t ever go away – that will always be there, but our objective and desire is to move on.
“Now it remains to be seen whether or not we have done the yards we needed to in preparation...but we believe our game-style and how we test sides will always hold up. There’s just some qualitative aspects that we’ve got to get right.
“We obviously want to get (our 2022 campaign) off on the right foot, so we’ll definitely leave no stone unturned.”
Beveridge also confirmed key defender Alex Keath is fit to play, despite suffering a leg injury in the Bulldogs’ AAMI Community Series practice match a fortnight ago.
“He’ll play - he got a nasty knock on the shin, which was really limiting him (in the AAMI game),” Beveridge said.
“It was too much of a risk (to keep him in) – with the pressure that you put on the other side of your body and the lack of symmetry, so we took him out of that game but he’s ready.”
Fine-tuning the Bulldogs’ midfield mix is another area of focus for Beveridge, who said there isn’t a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach.
“As a match committee, our challenge is to get that (midfield balance) right,” he said.
“Early last year we had it in a really good spot, and then later in the year it sort of went a little bit south with the same approach.
“It just shows you that one approach isn’t sustainable for too long. Hopefully we get it right tomorrow night with our mix.”
The Bulldogs will confirm their round one team at 6.20pm AEDT tonight.
