More than 90 students have graduated from the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation’s Leadership Project in 2019.
This year, the program spanned across 13 local government areas and involved students aged between 14 and 16.
The intensive six-month program offers unique opportunities for young people to build confidence, make new friends and develop skills that will enable them to become leaders in their community.
It has been running since 2013, helping hundreds of students across Melbourne’s western suburbs and western Victoria.
The program provides participants with an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to their community by undertaking a Community Leadership Project.
This involves students selecting community issues they are passionate about, before planning, implementing and delivering basic initiatives designed to improve the problem.
Opportunities available to students as part of the program include practical team building challenges, careers expositions, mentoring from industry leaders, coaching courses, AFL and AFLW match visits, Western Bulldogs volunteer opportunities and council workshops.
The program is made possible in partnership with local councils, Worksafe Victoria, Dacland, Powercor, CDC and VRGF.
