When Bob Murphy breaks through the banner on Saturday afternoon at Etihad Stadium, it will signal his entry to the most exclusive of clubs; The 300 Club.
997 players have pulled on a Bulldogs jumper throughout the Club’s history, but only seven men have reached the magical 300 game milestone.
The list reads like a who’s who of biggest names to grace the green of the old Western Oval.
Brad Johnson leads the list with a Club record 364 games between 1994-2010, followed by Chris Grant with 341, and who could forget that most iconic of Bulldogs moments in Round 17, 1994 when Doug Hawkins broke Ted Whitten’s then games record of 321.
They’ve been many, many great players in the long and proud history of the Footscray/Western Bulldogs Football Club, but on Saturday afternoon, Robert Murphy will earn his place among the immortals.
