Illness caused Adam Cooney’s late withdrawal against the Brisbane Lions last week but Western Bulldogs Medical Services Manager Andrew McKenzie says the midfielder is clear to play against Melbourne on Sunday.
“Cooney just had a stomach bug on the morning of the game and the doc’s felt that he wouldn’t be able to get through the game so they withdrew him,” McKenzie said.
“He has come in well today, he will be fine for this week.”

Foot soreness will rule Jake Stringer out for selection, with Club medical staff opting not to take any risks with the first round draftee in the final game of the season.
“Jake we’ve kept in the boot while his soreness has remained, he is still a little bit sore so he won’t be playing this week,” he said.
Jack Redpath has also been ruled out for the season after undergoing knee surgery yesterday, which will see him return in time for the Bulldogs pre-season campaign.
“Jack jarred his knee in the previous game, he has had a bit of soreness so he went in and saw the specialist and had a scope last night which all went well,” he said.
“He will be ready for pre-season.”
Christian Howard endured a hamstring injury playing for Williamstown in the VFL on the weekend and will join the Dogs rehabilitation group.
“Christian suffered a low grade hamstring on the weekend and we will put him through the normal rehab process,” he said.
