Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli has drawn level with Melbourne’s Clayton Oliver in the 2021 AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award.
The star midfielder earned nine votes from coaches Luke Beveridge and Stuart Dew, registering 36 disposals, nine clearances and seven inside 50s in Saturday’s win over Gold Coast.
Bontempelli and Oliver currently sit equal-first overall, with 85 votes apiece.
Key defender Alex Keath was the Bulldogs’ next best at Metricon, rewarded with five votes for his efforts down back.
Ball-magnet Jack Macrae and young gun Bailey Smith polled three votes each, while forward-turned-defender Bailey Dale received two votes.
Gold Coast’s Touk Miller (seven votes) and Sam Miller (one votes) were also recognised.
The Dogs and Dees will now do battle this Saturday night in a top-of-the-table rematch, as confirmed by the AFL this afternoon.
