The Western Bulldogs kicked off the Club’s Win the West Blitz this week with the help of our dedicated Members and Fans.
The Blitz will see teams of volunteers - including players, staff and fans – distributing information about the Bulldogs and offering free tickets to the season opener against Brisbane Lions on March 30 at Etihad.
The Blitz is an ambitious grassroots campaign which is as much about telling the story of our Club – its past and exciting future – as it is about celebrating our heartland – Melbourne’s West.
Already players have visited 24 local schools, shopping centres and strips in recent days.
On day two Bulldogs’ Chief Executive Officer Simon Garlick and Club great Brad Johnson travelled to Williamstown to mingle with supporters and residents in the West and sell the Bulldogs’ message.
The Bulldogs players and volunteers will continue to make special appearances throughout the five local government areas of Maribyrnong, Wyndham, Melton, Hobsons Bay and Point Cook in the lead up to Friday night’s NAB Cup game against Hawthorn.
On Saturday, the final day of the Blitz, all Bulldogs players will converge on Highpoint shopping centre to mingle with members and fans between 12:30 and 1:30.
The central theme of the Blitz is about connecting with the Bulldogs’ community in the West – a community that Club has been a part of for 130 years.
Building on the momentum from the Bulldogs ‘Our Heartland’ campaign, the Club recognises that its future is tied to the west and the Blitz is the next step in embracing that link.
The blitz aims to prompt discussion and continue to build a sense of ownership around the Club, while rewarding the community for their commitment and loyalty with the ticketing offer.
Targeting schools, shopping centres and iconic areas like the Footscray markets, the grassroots campaign is set to paint Melbourne’s West red, white and blue.
