The Western Bulldogs GOAL Mentoring program is accepting participant and mentor nominations for 2021.
Facilitated through the Community Foundation, GOAL is a free 10-session program aimed at young people aged 13-15 from African Australian backgrounds.
As part of the program, participants will connect with both African and non-African AFL players, AFLW players and community mentors on a regular basis*.
Each workshop is focused on developing a range of life skills that work towards shaping a strong, community-minded group of young leaders.
“The GOAL program was just about everyone coming together and having fun, I never thought I’d have such a sense of belonging,” said one participant in 2019.
“I’ve learnt many things within the program but one thing I truly taken out from the program is to always be yourself and to embrace yourself and your culture,” said another in 2020.
The GOAL Mentoring program is scheduled to start in the June-July school holidays, with sessions delivered across weekends throughout Term 3 leading into the September holidays.
The Community Foundation is also seeking GOAL mentors across the Western suburbs, who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.
A 90-minute mentor information session will be held the week of June 21, ahead of the program commencing, for those interested.
