It was a one-sided affair at ETU Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with the Western Bulldogs going down to Port Melbourne in round six of the VFLW.

Issy Grant brought the pressure early with multiple defensive efforts, however it wasn’t enough to quell a fast start from the ladder-leading Port Melbourne, who went into the first break 11 points ahead.

Consistent performer Isabelle Pritchard was a standout for the Bulldogs, fighting hard in the midfield and taking some crucial marks around the ground.

However, the game began to slip away in the second quarter, with repeat forward entries from the home team resulting in a two goal to none term.

There was more to like in the third quarter, with versatile ruckman Molly Denahy Maloney coming alight in what was arguably a best on ground performance.

Led by Amanda Tessari, the Bulldogs defence stood strong and managed to keep Port Melbourne goalless for the quarter, while a late goal to Mary Sandral helped peg back the lead.

However, unfortunately in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs were unable to counteract Port Melbourne’s quick transition, and a two-goal final term saw the home side run away with a 35-point victory.
