The Western Bulldogs fell victim to a quick Collingwood start last year, conceding the first four goals in windy conditions. The Bulldogs were forced to play catch-up after half-time, and weren't able to register a major until early in the third term. Speedster Kirsten McLeod (two goals) inspired the group with some solo brilliance late to cut the margin to 19 points, but Collingwood was quick to counter-attack. Captain Ellie Blackburn led the stats sheet with 17 disposals and five tackles, followed closely behind by tough on-baller Kirsty Lamb (15, five tackles, one goal) and hard-running defender Bailey Hunt (15, eight marks).
