The Western Bulldogs have re-signed promising defender Roarke Smith for the 2019 season.
The 21-year-old has played 12 career games since he joined the Club as a rookie in 2014.
He missed extended periods in the 2016 and 2017 seasons due to consecutive knee injuries, but returned this year to make 10 senior appearances.
“I’m very excited to have another year at the Doggies,” Smith said.
“In the past I haven’t played a lot of footy, so it’s been good to put a few games together, and hopefully next year I can play a few more.”
Smith averaged 12 disposals and 3.8 intercept possessions per game this season off half back.
“Roarke got his chance this year and took the opportunity with both hands,” said Bulldogs General Manager of List and Recruiting, Sam Power.
“He’s been very unlucky with injury in the past, but we’ve seen some great glimpses of his ability this season and it’s been great to see him get some consistency with his game.
“Roarke has plenty of upside and development in him, and we look forward to seeing what he can produce in 2019.”
