According to AFL.com.au, the Bulldogs topped the charts with a 10/10 grade.
Wow. Not only did the Bulldogs hold their nerve and keep the Bombers' bid for Josh Dunkley at bay, they also managed a last-minute deal to snag Adam Treloar from the Magpies to add serious speed to their midfield mix in exchange for essentially a future second-round pick. The pick 14 they sent to the Pies as part of that deal netted them No.26, 33 and 42 – which will give them more points to select highly-rated Academy talent Jamarra Ugle-Hagan. That pick was always on the move and eventually found a home as they searched for draft points. The Dogs targeted a ready-to-go mature ruckman to complement Tim English and picked up Brisbane's Stefan Martin in a three-way deal that saw them lose Lachie Young to North, while Mitch Hannan gives their forward line another dimension. The Dogs' list only got better in the exchange period, and will get better at next month's draft, too. Huge winners. - Callum Twomey
It was also a 10/10 performance according to the Herald Sun.
Hit the jackpot. An already stacked midfield is set to get stronger, with Adam Treloar finding his way to Whitten Oval cheaply and Josh Dunkley staying put. Young ruckman Tim English was crying out for help and he’s finally got it in the form of journeyman Stefan Martin. The former Lion turns 34 next week but is feeling good and hopes to play every game next year alongside English. Martin effectively came in exchange for Lachie Young, who had played just two AFL games this year. Mitch Hannan is a likely type in the forward half and should prove a handy pick-up. – Chris Cavanagh
The Bulldogs sat alongside Brisbane, St Kilda and Carlton as the big winners, according to Fox Sports Online.
Wow. The Dogs have kept Josh Dunkley AND brought in Adam Treloar. It is a monumental effort. They offloaded a bunch of picks to get Treloar, but given the points they’re after for Jamarra Ugle-Hagan in the draft, they really traded a future second-round pick for Adam Treloar. It is a brilliant piece of trading by Sam Power and the Dogs. Josh Dunkley wants more midfield minutes, so it’s going to be intriguing to see how that works now that Treloar is on board. Another smart move by the Dogs was holding Dunkley to his contract – they know he’s the ultimate professional and won’t kick up a stink. They also brought in Mitch Hannan, who some in the know rate very highly, along with Stefan Martin who will be crucial to the development of Tim English. A flying success. - David Zita
