Marcus Bontempelli’s long-range match-winner against West Coast in Round 16 has been named runner-up in the 2020 Bulldogs’ Goal of the Year countdown, as voted by the fans.
Four points down in the dying minutes, the captain’s goal could not have come at a better time for the Bulldogs, who were fighting to keep their spot in the top eight.
To add to the intensity, Bontempelli’s goal was reviewed for a potential Jeremy McGovern touch on the goal-line.
But much to the joy of the red, white and blue army it was confirmed a goal, with the Bulldogs holding on to finish two-point victors.
