Which Bulldog goal will be crowned the best of 2020, as voted by you? Let’s go over the contenders…
- Bailey Williams, Round 2 vs St Kilda
Six goals down against the Saints halfway through the third quarter, Williams inspired the group with a long-range banana from just inside 50m.
- Marcus Bontempelli, Round 3 vs GWS
The skipper’s quick-thinking soccer kick from the goal square ultimately sealed the Bulldogs’ first win of the season back in round three.
- Bailey Smith, Round 6 vs Carlton
Smith wasted no time getting to work against the Blues – going the left snap around his body and dribbling one through to open the Dogs’ scoring account for the day.
- Cody Weightman, Round 7 vs Essendon
First game, first possession, first goal. Need we say more about Weightman’s right foot banana from the boundary?
- Lachie Hunter, Round 12 vs Adelaide
Back in the side for the first time since round seven, Hunter got on the end of a lengthy handball chain to goal on the run and put the Bulldogs up by 30 points.
- Marcus Bontempelli, Round 12 vs Adelaide
Bontempelli’s repeat efforts, first with an intercept in the centre square and then running forward to support Aaron Naughton and Mitch Wallis, saw him slot a well-earned captain’s goal.
- Bailey Smith, Round 13 vs Melbourne
In just his second-year at AFL level, Smith showed his polish - getting on the end of an impressive handball link-up through the corridor to goal on the run.
- Marcus Bontempelli, Round 16 vs West Coast
Cometh the man, cometh the moment. Bontempelli’s long bomb from outside 50m in the dying minutes not only secured a hard-fought win, but also put the Bulldogs right in finals contention.
- Caleb Daniel, Round 17 vs Hawthorn
He doesn’t get too many moments to kick goals, but Daniel made the most of his opportunity in round 17 – intercepting a short Hawks kick to slot one on the run.
- Mitch Wallis, Round 18 vs Fremantle
The milestone man excited the Cairns crowd early, going a soccer-kick off the ground to kick a crafty goal in game 150.
