Senior Coach Brendan McCartney is calling on all members and fans to put the Bulldogs’ colours aside on Saturday and instead opt for pink, as part of the Field of Women pre-game event.
The annual Field of Women event aims to get 15,000 wearing pink, standing in the shape of the pink lady on the MCG to pay tribute to those affected by breast cancer.

The Bulldogs are proud to be associated with the event alongside Melbourne FC and the Breast Cancer Network Australia and McCartney said the Club hopes all fans embrace the event and get involved.
“It reminds you that life’s tough in a lot of ways and people get sick and need support and help and nurturing,” McCartney said.
“There’s more to life than footy – we know that it’s an important game for both clubs on Saturday night and we are wound up for it but our hearts go out to people that are affected and their families.
“We are honoured to be a part of the occasion and really looking forward to the whole thing, as well as honouring some fantastic Australian people and providing a good spectacle for our game.”
Melbourne Senior Coach Paul Roos expressed a similar sentiment ahead of Saturday night’s clash against the Bulldogs and called for all AFL fans to support the cause.
“One of the great strengths of AFL as a brand [is] it can bring awareness to things and bring people together,” Roos said.
“As Brendan said, it’s not just about the footy – as much as we think it’s pretty important and the result’s important.
“The most important thing about Saturday night is we get 15,000 people on the ground and we raise some good money and we make some difference to a pretty important cause.”
